TOOLS INCLUDED IN THE VISUAL INTERFACE

As an application complement, two tools intended for general use are included:

This utilities are executed directly as two options from the “Tools” menu. This utilities generate another window (not a dialog) that remains opened you use as long you work in othe con lo cual pueden ser utilizadas mientras se trabaja normalmente sin necesidad de relanzarlas cada vez que se necesitan.

Units Conversion

This tool allows units conversion in an easy and intuitive way. With the intention to simplify the use of the tool, the units are grouped in three categories:

  • Pressure units
  • Length units
  • Volume units

In order of getting a value expressed in other units, you only have to do the following steps:

  • Input the value to be converted in the left text box in the related units group
  • Select original units of the value
  • Select units to convert
  • Click over the arrow marked button that indicates the sense of the conversion.

For further conversions, you only have to change the left text box value and/or units, and then click again the arrow button.

In the figure 1, you can see clearly the elements disposition of this tool that helps to use it in a very intuitive way.

Mix Calculation

This utility calculates the amount of different required mixes to get a wished mix in a tank (if it's posible).

The wished mix is defined by the three percentages of oxygen, nitrogen and helium (composition) and the final pressure of the tank (quantity) we want to obtain. In the same way we define the initial mix in the tank.

Figure 2

The results are espressed as required increments of partial pressure in the tank caused by the addition of a needed basic mix. These basic mixes that can be used are the following:

  • Air
  • Oxygen
  • Helium

In the figure 2 you can see clearly the data disposition of the input and output values of the calculation.

You can also realize that in any case units are specified. The reason is that the compositions are dimensionless (percentages) and the quantities are expressed as a pressure value for a constant volume (tank volume). Although the last value has units, these don't get involved in the calculation because the results (quantities) are espressed as pressure values for the same constant volume.
